Lake Bourget is one of the largest natural lakes in France. On the west side it borders with Abbey Otkomb, the last shelter of Italian kings, and on the eastern side with the resort with mineral waters Aix-les-Bains - thus Lake Bourget lies between mountains (Massif des Bauges) and vineyard (Chautagne).

Snow-covered peaks surrounding almost boundless lake (its water surface covers 44 square kilometers) give a special charm to the beautiful landscapes of the province. In Aix-les-Bains place on Lake Bourget took baths Charlemagne, Henry the4th and Queen Victoria, while in Evian on Lake Geneva regularly came sheikhs and princes from various countries.
